Lets forget it Hugh

You are on a completely different wave length than I.
I was only using the smart car as an example of the horsepower that is being used in small car applications.
Everything I say you twist it up.
To begin with, my interpretation of an EV, (if you read my posts) is not one that would go on the frikkin highway, but rather an improved version of the GEM car.
The EV of the future would replace the family second car and be the vehicle for getting around town. If one needs a petrol car, go get one, if you don't them stick with your nice little EV. OK

Hugh,
I don't know why you are denying the technology. EVs have come a long way since the EV1. Look at Tesla. There are many many EV companies out there, especially overseas, that have made cars that get plenty of mileage and go as fast as you want them to go. The technology is not the issue. It is only a question of political willpower.

We could replace 100% of inner city cars with electric today at costs comparable to normal cars. We just haven't gotten started yet.
