IMO it's all part of a package deal that includes getting the corruption, inefficiency and ineffectiveness of the financial structure of this country. This includes single payer universal health care, lifting the income cap completely off of SS contributions, raising the marginal tax rate for high incomes, getting rid of subsidies for profitable industries like oil even when they start to plead poverty at $40/bbl.

Getting out of Iraq would be a good idea as well. They are all a piece of the financial puzzle.

I find it amazing that this government can magically come up with hundreds of billions to trillions for a war for oil in Iraq, trillions more for bailing out gamblers on wall street but can't figure out how to get universal health care paid for.

Middle-class tax cut may come soon

money.cnn.com

I don't see why it's so difficult to implement and an across-the-board suspension would make the deficit skyrocket. It also lacks the increase in marginal rates for very high income earners including suspension of the 15% capital gains rate for hedge fund manager income.

Rebalancing is what is needed as there is obviously a ton of money being sat on. That rebalancing drives resources towards those who actually do something useful for the country. That is, those who make things or service things instead of those who gamble with borrowed money.

That would be a nice change.

This kind of thing lifts all boats over the long term although the Reaganomics garbage gravy train will be at an end...thank goodness.
