Agreed, but again, you have to look at the entire chain of energy creation and usage.

This argument that we shouldn't move to electric cars, because we still get most of our energy from coal plants, is so stupid. We have to move to electric cars AND we have to move to cleaner energy sources. It doesn't matter which we do first. We have to do BOTH.

The sooner Americans realize that, the sooner we can capture the majority of the new wealth to come from these new industries. Or we can wait too late and let the rest of the world get most of the patents and wealth from it. Our choice.

Fortunately where I live here in the Seattle area about 98% of our electricity comes from renewables. I'm working on installing a PV array on my house and when the Roadster shows up late next year it will be recharged totally "off grid" but will have the backup capability of charging from the grid too.

This stuff is fun to work with.
