If the Globalstar marketing people hadn't been so dopey, Alaska would now be full of Globalstar phones and SPOT position location and reporting gadgets. SPOT is pretty good for being rescued from a snow-mobile crash into a snow-drift in the middle of nowhere.

If I lived in Alaska, I wouldn't be seen dead with a SPOT device: globalcomsatphone.com That's because I'd be rescued. Others would be seen dead without one.

But terrestrial services are not too bad while Globalstar gears up for Constellation 2 and perhaps a better marketing plan, but there's no sign of it yet.
