If the person is traveling with them the cost of flights, hotels, meals are covered as well as the loss of other income during the exclusive engagement.

Does that make sense to you? It should.

Maybe it is the "tin ear" problem. People are hurting. They were hurting then too....Does it make sense for a political campaign which was already short of money and being outspent to prioritize hair and makeup? Honestly, she was running for VP, not for Prom queen. If she didn't always look picture perfect at the events would that have affected the voters' opinion? I hope not.

Oh, and a candidate who prided herself on being a soccer mom had to have a full time styist travel with her? Couldn't use local talent? Well, maybe I don't understand ladies fashion <vbg>. Did McCain have a stylist on board? I have seen Gov. Palin at the governor's conference. She looked great...I bet she doesn't have a full time styist traveling with her now.

As for the fallout from the money spent on clothes and makeup, that was documented in the polls at the time. The independents, who were critical to any chance McCain/Palin had, shied further away...The results were what they were, for whatever reasons.

Tin ear....like Edwards, like Clinton.
