Those who are totally anti-war have not been listening to Obama on the war on terrorism. His stance is not pacifist. It is just directed away from Dubya's personal need for revenge on Saddam and toward the world's need to crush radical murderers with all of our powers. A trillion dollars spent, 4300 American troops lost and over 100,000 Iraqis killed to hang one man that even Dubya now admits had nothing to do with 9/11 was as senseless as we can possibly imagine. Obama wants to pull out of Iraq and my guess is that he is promising longer so that if he misses by a month or two, he won't be shellacked by the nut jobs on the left and the right. But, since he wants to use the troops in Afghanistan and Pakistan, he has to give some thought to bases in the region that already exist.
