i am beginning to see what you had meant by <<capital can't be hogged>>, in so far that capitalism is at play, communism is at bay, and paper is money.

we are blessed.

however, gold money can most assuredly be hoarded and hogged, and in every sense represents economic freedom to deny capital to wastrels even as they are robbed of wealth/capital by those more diligent, thrifty, and enthusiastic.

folks may zig and zag amongst the various currencies and assets classes, perhaps not cognizant that the correlation is 0.9, and if widen the time lag allowance, correlation = 1.00, and, on average, getting hit here, there, everywhere, before, now, and later, or

folks may choose to set aside some goodness in the form of gold and its near kin, to opt out, circumvent, short circuit, and otherwise astutely negate the worst of the effects of evil monetary inflation and ethical devolution.

so, yes, perhaps <<There are people who need to celebrate and people who need to despair>>

as regard to <<This is the beginning of the middle>>, i fear yes, perhaps that, except that the middle game looks very much like the opening gambit, and will give preview to the sorry end game.
