Excellent! I printed a copy so I can share it with my daughter, who is struggling to get her motivation up for studying history.

A couple of tangental thoughts: The authors note that with rapid development of technology and amazing inventions, we have created a kind of 'magic' world that just works. We dismiss things or throw them away if they don't function automatically and instantly.

1) We've also taken this view of humanity, where sometimes we deny conflict, or treat it as something that should simply be dismissed and forgotten. If we raised our children this way Social Services would be at the door with charges of child neglect...yet, we deal with our responsibilities as global citizens this way. Conflict is inevitable and always involves some level of struggle to reach a decent resolution.

2) We've come to view our destiny as a manifest destiny under the control of lab cloak clerics and the media, rather than something we should give constant conscious attention to.
