Lindy, I'm a libertarian and have no problem with web cams peeking out windows. I didn't know privacy exists in public places where anybody can look at us, take pictures, listen and even sniff if they don't get too close. Are libertarians supposed to worry about people watching them in public and recording what they do? That's news to me.

< Here's something for libertarians and privacy lovers to chew on.

A guy living in San Francisco's sleazy Tenderloin District got so fed up with the crime outside his apartment window that he installed a live webcam with a dedicated web site. Now that the entire world can witness crimes in his 'hood, they're calling the SFPD

That's excellent. What's needed is a reward system for catching criminals. Such a system would be good for everywhere. Put web cams around your property, post a reward for catching bandits, and enthusiasts around the world could watch 40 channels at a time [or more] and make good money potting criminals. They could simply click on "send the constabulary or local vigilantes" and hey presto, the criminals would be feeling nervous.

With mobile cyberspace, reward-seeking vigilantes could be within a minute or two of anywhere.
