To all: Even if you are not a mac user, take a look at December 1997 Macworld magazine. An article on ls120 compared to zip with reliability commentary. Mega advertising for Iomega. New SKUs with zip drive standard. VST drive ad. Laptop zip. What's a little more dd worth?

>>I heard some guy talking about how SyQuest was going to be releasing it's *JAZ KILLER* at comdex. There have been posts here and there proclaiming SyQuest's drive as non-robust. Anyone have a feeling for the unit's (SyQuest's, not Rocky's) reliability?<<

Spank -

Since SyQuest's latest Jaz Killer has not yet been released, there is no way to judge its reliability.

As for the previous Jaz Killer, SyJet, I have seen no evidence to suggest that it has any serious reliability problems. On the SyQuest thread, they talk about how Iomega's products are shoddy and unreliable. On this thread I have seen posts about SyQuest drives having problems. I know from personal experience that Iomega's products are fine. And I believe that the SyQuest bashing is also unfounded.

Let's wait and see the SparQ before we decide whether or not it works.
