>> The catastrophe would then happen on Obama's watch, making sure to cripple all his "liberal" plans and programs.

What liberal plans? We were all wrong. He's pissed the liberals off because his administration is shaping up to look pretty much like the Bush administration.

The foreign policy is the same. And it would appear he is floundering about, just like Bush, trying to figure out how to deal with the economic crisis.

Economic cycles happen and they don't much care about politics. Obama's going to spend money to try and fix it. And Bush has spent money trying to fix it. Yet, the economy is doing what it wants to do.

I wonder why we bothered with an election at all.

In addition, Bush is doing his part by attempting to gum up the works for his successor with numerous executive orders overturning environmental safeguards, thus easing the way for polluting corporations to get what they want before the Democrats take over. He also has placed key aides under civil-service protections throughout the federal bureaucracy, there to hamstring Obama's programs from the inside.

You have to stop this ABB crap of yours...

"For the GOP, the Economic Meltdown May Have Happened Just a Wee Bit Early"

Over on the RE crash thread, this has been a matter of speculation all through the campaign. The Bush PPT (Plunge Protection Team) had been doing a mighty job of keeping the markets up, despite a relentless assault of bad news. We even traded on the knowledge that the PPT would prop up the markets, especially the financial sector. Paulson in particular seemed willing to do anything to keep the recession from being obvious until after Nov. 4th. I was one of the one's betting he couldn't do it, but there are many wingnut Bush voters on the thread who were sure he could.

He couldn't, and didn't. The Bush house of cards economy collapsed, and more than any other single factor, elected Obama.

Ted, > For the GOP, the Economic Meltdown May Have Happened Just a Wee Bit Early

Yeah, ya think?

For the Democrats, the Economic Meltdown Couldn't Have Happened at a Better Time.

Rahm Emanuel put it best, "You never want a serious crisis to go to waste."
