Is Oat Bran to strong for the digestive system?

No. A lot of people use it as a cereal just by itself. I add two tablespoons to my morning 1/2 cup of oatmeal that I mix with 1 1/2 cup of water, salt, splenda, ground flax seed, raisins and chopped walnuts. Microwave it for 3 minutes and pour some skim milk on it.

."In 1997, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration passed a unique ruling that allowed oat bran to be registered as the first cholesterol-reducing food at an amount providing 3 grams of beta-glucan per day."

I eat straight oat bran, either raw or cooked. Have for years. Not much different from rolled oats in practice. The texture of the oatmeal is just different. Rolled oats are creamier.

I now eat Oat bran every day with no problems. 3 heaping tablespoons microwaved with water.I don't like mush, so I cook it to the dry side.

Cinnamon, honey, flaxseed and walnuts added for an easy and healthy 400 calorie breakfast.

On the days when I would rather have an egg...I make oat bran for dessert later in the evening instead.

If you microwave it drier like I do...you can use raspberries, apples, or applesauce for a wheat free Apple Betty type of dessert.

Works for me anyway...we all have different tastes.

Drink some extra water if you eat oat bran...it really pulls water out of your system. I've never had a problem, but I've read it's important.
