so far the cover is Rod "misspoke". Probably good enough for the Obama press.

just thought, Clinton sold pardons, what's the big deal with selling a senate seat?

>> Will Media Cover Obama/Rod Blagojevich Connection?

They will. They'll love it.

But they've already started out distancing their boy from it before all the facts are in. On Chris Matthews tonight, they were going on about how impressive it is that Obama came up through the "Chicago Political Machine" unscathed by the nastiness -- and how big he is on "ethics".

Of course, it is early. Axelrod has already come out and contradicted himself about Obama's "discussions" with Blago about his replacement (back in November, Axelrod had Obama having several discussions with him, today, "Oh, nevermind. That was a mistake".

Whether Obama is involved remains to be seen. For now, I think Fitzpatrick is equal-opportunity (as most of the federal prosecutors I've known have been). But the facts will come out and it would seem that a properly speculative media would wait and see.
