The answer is Both, jerald.......for the time being.....One leading the way for the other. (in reality, you have three....Hardware, services and enterprise software)

Anadac and city governments have kept the lights on. TP-600 sales are going to bring in very nice money over the next 3 years.......Do you have any idea how many police departments in the US alone DON'T have one....and really need one?......Thousands of machines.....thousands.

NEC said.....prices start at $40,000........INS machines went at $55,000 a pop.......Lots of single sales go at $80,000..........It is always a mix......Watch the gross margins, and the SGA as a percentage of sales....that will tell you the future profitability....That's what Kessler will be looking at.

You don't need 30 salesmen to make one 60 machine sale, jerald. Volume can create very nice savings....and can really protect margins in a comptitive market..and at this stage of development you must spend heavily to create the infrastructure that will alow rapid growth.......There is no doubt that IDX wants to be a custom software integration company.....selling to Oracle and doing high margin contract fingerprinting......But until that ramp-up takes place..and it is now....Doubling our sales each year on the back of hardware and government sales.....will just have to do......There are growth areas within the government too jerald.....Immigration control is one of them.

If IDX did not have the prospects of Oracle and Sylvan....I would agree with you.......If IDX made pith helmets.....we would be in big trouble.....

ps. When Randy was talking about anyone can make a scanner......he was refering to the $10.00 units that are going to be the On/Off switch stuff to be sold at radio shack.......Not the TP type machines.
