Koan: "I think when the subject of unions is discussed, it is imperative to also discuss early 19th sweatshops and the fact almost all of industry in the early 20th century e.g. steel mills, clothing factories and coal mines were very very hard on workers. And certainly no tfair to them. Fairness is a right.

Unions are the counter balance to despotic industry bosses. Just look at any third world country (where there are no unions) and their factories. Heck, they are all sweat shops.
