AIG is the worst of the bunch. It was a conservative insurance company that had one group of people (maybe even one person ultimately) gambling.

We are paying out their contracts IN FULL to who knows whom? How much of this money is going to other countries or even to other banks we are bailing out anyway? It is a disaster.

The bailout, as far as I can tell, is actually a bigger disaster than the disaster it is designed to fix. How in the world could there be $8.5 TRILLION (more than 50% of GDP) to fix?

That's half the size of the entire US mortgage market as well and the entire market hasn't gone kaput and left holes in the ground where houses once stood. IMO the American public is beginning to understand that much of this is simply stealing and is sick to death of doing any more.

That is why calls and letters are running so heavily against the auto bailout and this is why it's ridiculous that all the CEOs don't simply resign and give up all options and pensions, etc.

I was listening to part of the Fannie Mae hearing yesterday. OMG. The money these CEOs were being paid was simply outrageous. One of them received some $90m/11 years and is still pulling a $1m+ pension from the company.

WTF?

I think Kucinich wanted to go over to them and punch them all out. Republicans and Democrats alike were flabbergasted at their arrogance. None of them took one ounce of responsibility for anything yet between the (I think) four of them, they were paid well ofer $100 million.

Unbelievable.

Is it any wonder no one wants to bail out anything any longer?
