Inventories- Also keep in mind that if inventories have ballooned and the materials prices then cratered, that inventory could be worth less than what the company paid for it - the inverse has happened with building products, for example - sales have looked better than expected in 2008 in $, but then you look at unit volume and it tells a different story.

The metric I'm focusing in on is A/R and DSO for a lot of companies.
