I am thinking of selling those three sapphires I got with you back in HK, but I have no idea how prices have moved specifically in sapphires. Is there a good source of pricing info? regards, P++ Hi P++, Sapphires have gone up alot since you purchased them. there is no real source for pricing as we have with diamonds. please give me the detaisl so i can give you some idea of current. Currently, like all businesses, there is no buyers market at the moment. Cash has become King. Suggest local retailers might be the best approach or selling directly to the public will get you top dollar. No matter what, selling them in the States would be better than selling near the source- that is HKG or BKK. Please let me know how i can be of help. regards K__ Dear K__, The stones are in my safe deposit in HK but I believe that these were the details: 1) 3.47 cts 2) 4.51 cts 3) 2.56 cts I think they were all ovals, but I am unsure if they were untreated or not and there was nothing on the old invoice to indicate the quality level or original source (thailand, etc). The price for all three was HK 120,046 back then. I guess the best thing would be to get them out to check, but I am here in Hawaii!! Let me know if you can remember anything!! I didn't realize it would be better to sell them here. regards, Dear P++, i would really need to see them to give you an idea of current prices. the closer to the source the cheaper the price. I would strongly suggest selling them to a retailer or better still to a user (hard to find because you are not in the business) in USA. the retailers make big margins ripping off the tourists. The jewellery industry is really down,to be honest it might be hard finding a buyer with ready cash at this point in time. sorry i am not being much help to you at the moment. please let me know if i can help in any way K__ Dear K, Jay will be getting the sapphires out of my box in HK. There does not appear to be anyone here in ____ who will look at them. Would it be possible to send them to you in Dubai to have them sold? Either way if he sends them to me or you, I am unclear how to mail/ship stones ?? Can you use the normal mail or FedEX or? and do you insure them and how? Just don't know the logistics. Please let me know how this works. How did the call/visit go with ___? I hope you got to see her. kind regards, P++ Dear P++, i am in hkg. until monday. please have jay call my mobile - 61457182 then i can arrange to see the stones. dubai is not a good place to sell loose stones and there is a 5% duty on loose stones. i will try my best to help sell them.i must warn you that the jewellery industry is dead and clients are very late in paying. k__ Dear Jay, Looks like K__ is actually in HK right now so it will be perfect for him to take a look at them and the receipt!! Could you give him a call on xxxxxxx ? thanks very much, P++
