Only thing I know is that it involves narrower tracks. I believe the 8.1 GB Travelstar has an areal density of 3 Gigabits/in2. That means that IBM now has the 2.65 Gbits/in2 and 3.00 Gbits/in2 MR heads in the portable segment. We'll probably see IBM bring that to the mainstream next year.
