Agreed on the guns & ammo and would strongly suggest can goods be added to the list. Not so sure about the gold unless it is in coinage. JMHO, an investment that may need to be assayed to determine value in an illiquid market needs some serious thought.

Back in the heady days of the Hunt brothers silver debacle, I remember seeing ads for washers & dryers priced in small amounts of face value of silver coins. In other words, an established exchange rate was easily agreed upon.....not so sure you can do that with gold bars.....just a random thought from the wilderness.
