How does the fairness doctrine stifle Hannity? The Fairness Doctrine stifles ALL conservative talk radio. How? Because radio stations will be forced to run the same amount of unprofitable left-wing talk programming as they do [profitable] right-wing talk programming. If a radio station wants to air Hannity's show, they'll have to dig up some left-wing talker to put on elsewhere on the channel, and there are no left-wing talkers who are as profitable as Rush, Hannity, Laura Ingraham, or others. It is totally about shutting down free speech on the radio.
