True. But it never has been. I'm not sure it "never has been". However, when it was introduced in the 50s you didn't have this bitter partisanship on the part of the Democrats. And you didn't have a talk radio market that been totally captured by the right-wing. Today, there is little doubt they would be bringing actions to shut down right-wing talk radio. That is, after all, the reason they want to bring it back. And THAT -- is stifling free speech.
