Jess, please keep us posted on developments there. It
will have an impact here but hopefully not as dramatic.
As I write, the SP500 futures is down limit suggesting
a drop in excess of 120 pts. for the DJIA on the opening.

OTHO, bonds are getting bid up and short term rates have
declined about 10 bps. Thus we are getting an "easing"
of interest rates without the Fed's help.

One worry roiling the markets is the safety of the
Hong Kong banking sector and its impact on Japanese
banks since 40% of Hong Kong borrowings are owed to
Japan. Banking system "scares" put the fear of God
in investors more so because they fear what they don't
understand.

One question I have regarding market developments is
the response of Hong Kong's new overseers. Hopefully,
there won't be too much interference from the Mainland.
Any thoughts on this?
