I don't know what it is about these Irish guys...maybe they spend more time in the pubs than they need. My former company was bought out(Irish guy in Dublin) at the same time Sam Zell bought the Tribune...took on about $8 billion in total debt, only to find the backers(UBS-CS-Small London Investment Banker) couldn't unload the debt on the market as there were no takers. So now, a year later....Zell has taken the only option at his disposal and my former employer(in the same industry...publishing) has the Grim Reaper knocking on their door wanting their ounce of blood. 20+% of the staff fired last week and they are no longer taking manuscripts from their authors.....so how long do you think a publisher can last if they aren't print new books? Gasoline down to $1.45 at the pump here in Houston...so watch for the turn in retail gas prices to see a bottom in this crazy market......and may we all hope that is sooooooooon!
