I can say from conversations I had and heard today that the author is correct. People around here are remarkably well informed about what is going on. The perception I got today is a definite disgust with the Southern senators, and people are actually fairly well aware of the past pork those guys got.

I agree with what you say but I have to amend the article I posted. I have learned subsequent to that article that while Corker of TN caucauses with that group of senators and voted with them, he actually was trying to get them to be more flexible and budge on their position by presenting a plan that would have acted as a bridge between the concerns of his colleagues, and concerns of the Dem senators and the UAW. It was a very effective bridge that has been praised by Dodd and others. In fact, Corker is an entreprenuer who will be invaluable when the restructuring talks resume in January.
