"If we are talking specifically about automakers, other companies will ramp production to supply demand. Therefore they will hire workers."

Yeah, foreign workers, in foreign countries. Take a look at subsidized Honda, cutting production here. They can still ship cars in from overseas. Meanwhile, our manufacturing base dissolves.

"I have never seen any data that shows it takes years to find a job.....how many do think have their resume ready?"

Millions, maybe tens of millions. Everyone I know who has a job is working on their resume or has updated it recently. This includes people who have worked at the same place for the last 25 years. Many unemployed have already given up on finding a job. Unemployment benefits have already been extended several times, and the recession is just getting started.

"So create an environment where its friendly for corps to keep jobs here."

Sounds great and I am all for that! How do we do that when poor but otherwise intelligent people overseas will happily work for 20 dollars a day, and when their educated people will do the same jobs as ours for half the price? When people/companies aren't buying goods how do we compete with overseas industries that are heavily subsidized by their governments and willing to flood our markets with products priced artificially low? Protectionism? Unfortunately that's exactly what I see coming down the political pipeline.
