>>>GW doesn't need that long.<<<

My wife works as a government employee for the National Gallery of Art. Yesterday she got the news that "W" has given all non-essential feds Friday, December 26th off with pay as an extra holiday. My wife is "non-essential." Essentials are military, air traffic controllers, etc. I hope that Bernanke and Paulson are deemed non-essential. ;-)

My wife and I are actually a little POed. It would be one thing if the government had had a good year and turned a profit. A little Christmas bonus for the employees when the coffers are swelled and overflowing isn't a bad thing. But as we all know the cupboard is bare and then some. We will pay for that bonus ourselves sooner or later. We can't figure "W" out. His legacy is cast in concrete and it isn't good. Who will remember a Christmas bonus six months from now while standing in an unemployment line??? And it isn't as if there is an election on January 2nd where he might have actually realized a good will benefit. Ah well. One last party.

Oh. Since its really the Chinese's money we might as well go ahead and spend it on ourselves. Kinda like all of those AIG executive retreats the day after we bailed them out - the first time.
