what i find about having nuts (walnuts, almonds, pecans) as a snack is that (at least for me) just a very few (maybe 8 to 10) are enough to staunch hunger pangs....if i were to eat fruit or crackers or cheese i would consume much more in calories because of the satiety factor...nuts are extremely 'rich' tasting to me and thus feel 'filling'....

it should be obvious that one cannot consume copious amounts of nuts in addition to their ideal caloric intake and not gain weight
