I worked with a guy that, on spotting someone who could advance him, would literally chase them down to brown nose them. I found this disgusting, but the higher ups apparently liked it, because he became my boss (until I quit). I always blame the promoters for this type of thing, not the promotee. Even as a boss, I hated suckups and distrusted them intensely.
