Inode, > How can management take a "bigger hit" than the UAW?

Think in terms of "saving the middle class." Don't think in free market terms.

When you start from the notion that the UAW is a pillar of the American middle class, you can begin to understand why liberals would support a bailout.

How can management take a "bigger hit" than the UAW? If you take all the money management makes company wide it wouldn't amount to a fraction of what UAW members make, often for not showing up to work.

Because GM's factory floor makes only a few dollars per hour more than their non union counterparts. Meanwhile, mgmt is making major bucks.
