CARY, N.C., Oct. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Tangram Enterprise Solutions, Inc.
(Nasdaq: TESI) the leading provider of business software for tracking
Information Technology (IT) assets in the distributed enterprise, announced
today that Nortel (Northern Telecom) has purchased Asset Insight, its asset
tracking business solution, to deploy worldwide to track the organization's
client/server IT assets. Financial details of the agreement were not
disclosed.
Nortel is planning to deploy the asset tracking system globally to
inventory, track and manage hardware and software assets, as well as
configuration changes, in its desktop computing environment. Once installed,
Nortel senior managers will be able to make informed business decisions about
software licenses, hardware and software upgrades, IT thefts, and help desk
support, in addition to reducing the costs associated with owning, installing,
purchasing and managing IT assets.
Ken Hollingshead, Nortel's director of desktop technology and management,
said the selection of Asset Insight is in line with the company's strategic
decision to reduce the overall costs of its desktop computing. "With the
deployment of Asset Insight, Nortel will be able to track its multi-platform
desktop hardware and software assets with minimal impact to its internal
networks, end users, and technical support staff.
James V. Taggart, Tangram's director of VAR channel operations said
Nortel's decision to integrate Asset Insight into its desktop-computing
environment worldwide confirms the tremendous return on investment and unique
advantages offered by Asset Insight. "With information technology costs rising
dramatically each year, industry leaders like Nortel are beginning to
recognize that they need to know what IT assets they have in order to manage
them," Taggart stated. "By implementing Asset Insight, Nortel will have the
comprehensive information they need to proactively manage their enterprise-
wide assets to support critical business decisions."
Al Cipollone, director of asset management strategies for CompuCom agreed.
"Asset Insight is a highly effective and accurate software solution for
tracking personal computer assets on an enterprise-wide basis," Cipollone
stated. "Not only does it offer exceptional reporting capabilities, Asset
Insight is truly a superior product when it comes to providing the information
executives need to track and manage total cost of ownership issues."
The agreement was coordinated through Texas-based CompuCom Systems, Inc.,
a value-added reseller under contract with Tangram.
