I think most reasonable people view Bush's handling of the situation as totally appropriate -- that is, he laughed it off. After all, it is pretty much stoneaged behavior on the part of the shoe thrower.

If anyone should be humiliated it is the Muslims who view shoe throwing as an insult. It just leads the rest of the world to believe these people are uncivilized animals. It is THEY who should be humiliated for the behavior of this fool.

like when he was at the G20 and they ignored him.
