It is reasonable to judge conduct according to the usual categories of good and bad. Here I'll mix it up for you corrupt, charitable, kind, evil, cruel, considerate, generous, compassionate, greedy, truth, lie. See any difference? Ok well in your case there may not be any but in the normal human condition we have a conscious that helps guide our own behavior and reason to judge what we witness. The thou shall not judge rule is regarding the condition of another person's soul. Even though we may punish a guy for brutally killing another person we don't always know everything about the circumstance. He may have intended to save us from the demonic behavior of the person he killed but simply can't prove it. So, we put him in jail because its the most reasonable course to take for someone found guilty by the courts of murder but let God be the judge of his soul. Behavior is judge-able by all of us, the job of judging souls is taken.

When did I say I was religious? I do think being religious is a good and worthy thing though and I do believe in preserving our religious liberty. But I don't consider myself particularly religious. For example, I'm not presently a member of a church. I also don't claim any superior or above average morality or ethics. In fact, one of the religious beliefs I do hold most firmly is that all of us are sinners. Including me. No one is naturally moral or righteous. Humanity is tainted with sin and I can see it in my own person. People may be trained and brought up to be more or less moral, but even that only goes so far. ----------------------------------------------------------- You believe XYZ because someone told you to believe in XYZ Thats not actually enough for me. I also believe things because of my real life experiences (why I've become more conservative as I've gotten older) and because things make sense. Although the older I get the more value I see in traditions that have been handed down over time. I think they should be looked on as collective wisdom, learned by many over many generations. -------------------------------------------------- People are unhappy because society rejects them. You're probably referring to the Morgan Spurlock program on gays in SF. The problem with your observation is that in modern SF, they aren't rejected. Yet they were still very unhappy about being gay. ----------------------------------------------------- Aren't you pleased with yourself that your intolerance leads a gay kid somewhere to kill themselves? Isn't that what you want? Hurling gay insults at me didn't work. Now you're making the monstrous false accusation that I want "gay kids" to commit suicide. What's interesting is that the only person I've heard urge people to kill themselves is your friend and political ally, Cliff (aka Unamerican Spirit) and to my knowledge you've never had a problem with his open demands that others kill themselves because he hates them so much. How come you're saying this to me who doesn't harbor such feelings, but you've never said anything to Cliff about his open demands that other folks commit suicide? ------------------------------------------------------- Remember this as well, YOU ARE NOT THE SPOKESPERSON FOR RELIGION UNLESS YOU ARE GOD. You speak for your own narrow segment of belief and nothing more. But as it happens the only thing I've said (as far as I can remember) as that 1) I support the liberties of religious people and 2) I consider traditional religion to be a good and worthy institution, and thats true whether the religion is Mormonism, Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, Buddhist, and even liberal Islamic. -------------------------------------------------------- Didn't your narrow segment of religion tell you to NOT JUDGE? Doesn't your narrow segment of religion tell you that only GOD IS TO JUDGE? What I was taught is that only God is morally equipped to be our judge. But not being judgmental doesn't mean one can't determine the difference between right and wrong. ------------------------------------------------------- Do you really understand your own religion? I don't believe you really do. You take the nasty bits of it and ignore the good ones. That's sad. What do you consider to be the non-nasty bits of religion (mine or others)?
