Well, more to my point, with many businesses buying 10s, 100s, or 1000s of servers at once, going with dual sockets and fewer numbers of boxes is always the better perf/$ proposition.

Moreover, most IT depts buy servers according to their budgets, as opposed to their compute needs. Many businesses have insatiable compute requirements (like Google), but merely compromise in terms of how much the corporation allows them to spend.
