Studded tires are a good idea, super good traction. I just didn't want the hassle of taking off summer tires and swapping winters. I did that with my Honda, had a set of extra wheels with Bridgestone Blizzaks on them.

We do the swap in Nov. and again in March. It's $50 each time.

My Suburban has siped all terrain tires. They've proved to be very sure footed in snowy conditions.
