I.Explorer is NOT a necessary part of the Windows 95 O/S. Period !!

The stunt some MSFT employees pulled on NSCP a few weeks ago when I.E 4.0 was released clearly shows that MSFT mindset is to beat NSCP in the browser war and eventually drive it out of business.

It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out what MSFT is upto. By giving away IE free of charge, making it the desktop standard via distribution thru Windows 95 and driving NSCP out of business, MSFT would eventually position itself to charge whatever it likes for future IE upgrades. This issue has been discussed in this company for over a year....today we use both NSCP and IE but with IE free of charge, many departments have opted for IE over NSCP. Yes, we are worried that once dominant in this area, MSFT will start charging license fees for future use.

Competition is important. Consumers may benefit short term but will pay over the longer term.
