I was giving us credit for being part way through. The Dow made a false breakout to about 1200 in 1972, then got cut in half by the end of 1974. Sounds a lot like what we just experienced with the blip to Dow 14000 after eight years sideways and then the drop to 7000.

Although the Dow was cut in half 1973-74, gold rose and then was cut in half 1975-76. It caused a deflation scare then inflation resumed with a vengeance until 1980 when Volcker did what really needed to be done and saved the dollar. He was burned in effigy.

The problem is much larger this time and our leaders are much more delusional.
