Ike,
ASEANs as a matter of %age are far below creating economic impact on USA markets-
Conveniently so, quite a lot of "bullish" scenarios are made based on the head-count in china, India and Indonasia. Each person in China buying 2 cases of Coke per day, 2 computers etc. etc. What do you say to that?

Greetings Cousin Ike:

Here are some lower support figures for the OEX--

896...903...912...to go with the previous 917...919...923 which are all below the previous close of 928.23

Appears calm has settled into the opening frantic moves.
I concur with your assesment.

Regards---Nemer

Iqbal, who dealt this mess? Market is still jittery - nightmares about oct87 prophecy still lingering in some people's heads? Goldman of AG Edwards is bullish bullish bullish - says rates will be 6% easily but there will be a little choppy water getting there. He sees sustained bull market and phooey on the naysayers. W.St. Week guest who predicted 87 fiasco said no way sustained crash will happen in this market but nobody rules out a "correction" through which they simply advise to "hold tight". For call buyers, does this mean go longER term - Jan/feb or leaps - and, save a bit of cash for margin calls and for bottom feeding in the event of a correction?

Here's what I find comforting about our midterm direction - check out these latest (11:00 EST) 30 yr bonds:

The only thing that bothers me now is that IBM, etc. will suffer again over the asian scare (e.g. IBM does business in Asia so it's future is doom & gloom). This may unfairly drive down some of the multinationals leaving yet another perfect opportunity for some to give away call premiums!!

Good luck,

mark
