I like what I've seen so far with Obama. A refreshing change. He seems to know what he wants to do and who he wants to surround himself with. Clinton was usually so tenative and afraid to upset people. Most things he did was a big poll driven calculation. Bush, Jr. didn't give a rats ass what anyone thought, and just did things for pure power (thus his record low approval ratings). He was a dumbass who served his masters in the wealthy elite power circles. So far, I like Obama's tact a lot. He seems sincere and driven with a plan.

very vocal left

Since this incident has to do with gays and lesbians (tho others are upset by the choice), I am bothered by it being referred to as a response from the very vocal left. Being gay doesn't determine a person's political party nor the point on the spectrum of a person's views on issues. Not appreciating having your relationship equate with pedophilia hardly makes a person a leftist, much less a vocal one who should be ignored. And how mundanely middle-of-road is wanting to be married? Frankly, I find marriage far too mundane to consider for myself. But, hey, my buds want to play house with the great centrists, go for it.

It is a shame that a larger potion of the country didn't move with the vocal far left before we went to Iraq.
