I used to have a bunch of money in the Guinness Flight China and Hong Kong fund. It scared the beejezzus out of me after I started looking at the very thing you're talking about and I dumped it.

Re: stocks in Hong Kong are way overpriced to start with trading at an average of 35X1998 earnings.

Darrell, the most recent numbers I've seen from I/B/E/S show Hong Kong's forward PE ratio in the low teens. That's from a couple months ago. Where have you seen 35x 1998 earnings for Hong Kong?

Thanks and regards - PerryA

Hi Darrell,

Could you give me the reference of the 35X1998 earnings for H.K.
stocks? I was trying to find that because I believe that "35X1998"
PE is way off of what I can recall. I believe that when Heng Seng
was trading at 17000+ level, its forwarding looking pe was around 17.
