M2,

you wrote-
"I've not seen you express any outrage over Gov. Blagojevich - does he get a pass because he is a democrat?"

I can't speak for Mike, but you haven't seen anyone else here express outrage over Blago. And what's the point in doing so? His actions didn't lead to or are likely to lead to a global financial meltdown or the equivalent. And it was the same with Senator Stevens, even though he was a national figure - no outrage expressed over that in here as well.

You are fishing up the wrong stream, but then again, I can see why the Bush backers would be looking to pin anything on the other side considering the horrid state of affairs that his administration is leaving this country in.

Maybe I'm being too practical, but I more measure deeds based on their outcomes whereas guys like you measure it on principles. So yeah, in principle, Blago's deed was much more reprehensible, but in terms of outcome it didn't bring down an otherwise healthy economy to its knees, nor would it likely do so in the future.

Mike, you've simply missed my notes on Blago. I think he's a total slimeball, if the allegations are true. I don't quite trust Fitzgerald after he let the White House off the hook, accepting Scooter as the Fall Guy, when everyone knew Bush and Cheney were the real traitors. But, in his defense, it's hard to nail a sitting Prez and Veep.

Here's one note where I said Blago should get 20 years. Message 25239197 Actually, it was a note to you. I hope you aren't getting Mad Cow Disease in your older years. <VBG>

But you are right about the GOP/Democrat thing. I think Bush and Cheney should be hanged. <G>

M2, of course clinton had a big role to play in the current disaster.

1. it was on his watch that the credit bubble foundation was laid.

2. 1996 was a key year when government took faking numbers to the next level - remember how chain weighted dollars and hedonic pricing caused greenspan to stand up, wave his arms and shout "new economy" and "productivity miracle" when there was nothing of the sort?

having said that, bush did about everything he could to make the matter worse.

this is why i DESPISE all politicians. they are, by definition, callous, pathological liars that lack a conscience. most are sociopaths.

they aren't stupid, as their actions would indicate upon a cursory overview. rather, they aren't doing the job most folks think they are. they are lining their own pockets and extending their own self interest at the expense of the general public.

period.

some have called me cynical. only if i'm wrong. nobody has come close to provide any evidence of me being wrong, though. their personal level of hope and desire doesn't constitute evidence for me.

i hope i'm wrong, too. but i *really* don't think i am.

oboma is no different, imho.

he stands up and says... "treat workers better" and then praises HIS OWN STAFF for working late for little pay during his inauguration speech... against the back drop of over HALF A BILLION DOLLARS in contributions.

obama could have paid his people a reasonable wage, or even a pretty darn good wage, and worked them reasonable hours and still had tons of money left over... but he *chose* not to.

you see, treating employees well is for other people to do or to use as a slogan to manipulate people to like you... at least to a narcissist. they know all they have to do is SAY it and most people will justify them not DOING it.
