I remember when the Mustang came out. Everybody wanted a Mustang.

There have been a whole bunch of very successful US cars, K Car, the Taurus when it came out, Minivans come to mind. Jeep was extraordinarily successful and (I think) pretty much gave birth to the 'every man's SUV'.

I really don't understand why Detroit hasn't come out with a smallish, very high mileage hybrid. If they offered a hybrid that got better mileage than a Prius I think it would be a huge success. Instead they offer a hybrid Escape.... duh.
