I agree but I'm not going to lie

3 or 4 times I heard the opposing side yell about a double team or some other death penalty deserving violation <g>

It bothered me! I don't subscribe to dirt ball....I want intensity! That 1 thing can make up for a lot of other deficiencies. When the end of the year comes I want them to walk away knowing if they work smarter, harder and play to win (intense) - MOST of the time they'll succeed. These kids are only 10 but IMO this is the time and venue to let it all hang out!

I think directing those natural energies toward a structured and controlled game with rules is an excellent opportunity to teach them about the life they'll face in the future. Parents who try to soften and protect are doing their kids a disservice,

Unfortunately, there are a lot of parents like that out there.

I've encountered the same thing with dog owners. We have a new dog park in town. I was there several weeks ago with my dog. There was a woman there to did not like the way the dogs were playing with her dog. She kept swatting at the other dogs saying, "no, get away." All that was going on was the dogs were playing aggressively and figuring out where each belonged in the pack.

I went up to the woman and said, "they're just being dogs. They're playing. If you don't like the way the dogs are playing, take your dog and leave." She eventually left.
