You can't easily double or triple the mpg on road trips without seriously compromising your comfort.

No "hybrid" or really, any other technology on the horizon, can yet generate significant savings while on "road trips". Until we get batteries that go 400 miles, there is very little hope.

We can easily double or triple the MPG efficiency of people driving around. It's not even medium tech, much less high tech. We just have to do it.

And it should pay for itself and give a huge boost to the economy.


That makes very good sense.

Personal cars are a part of American culture... I don't want to see that go away. I love road trips...

Its not the road trips that are hurting us. Its the mass commuting by car every day. That's what I would like to see reduced.
