Hi Rudedog,
I have been following your posts regarding the merits of virtualisation on Opteron via Nested Page Tables.

I am confused by some issues. The advantage of virtualization is that it allows multiple operating systems to be run on a single hardware platform, giving improved operating efficiency and lower hardware and operating costs. But how many operating systems can be run on a x86 system ? I count Microsoft,Linux and Solaris. How do you end up with 8 VM ? Are you virtualising several instances of the same OS ? If excessive virtualization is costing you so much performance and power, does it not make sense to revisit the issue of virtualisation, and re-architect the system with lower amount of virtualisation ?
