Phil > I looked out the window this morning and realized I was screwed. If you haven't had the extreme rare pleasure of shovelling show, you haven't lived yet. No further exercise needed for today!

Regretfully, I admit I have never had that pleasure. At the moment the temperature here is about 30C. Every day I walk a mile under the trees, swim 250 metres and then have a gin with the wife. I guess there are some benefits to living in Africa although, other than the climate, I can't think of many.

The British Pound has been taking a pounding.

This chart plots it against the Euro.

Which makes me wonder how long the two strong currencies, the YEN and the EURO can resist measures to devalue their own currencies in the face of US and world economic weakness. The EURO has room to go in as far as interest rates are concerned. The Japanese have bottomed out there, but can start printing yen and buying up their own paper. That is what has been suggested for the US dollar as well. These FOEX moves lately are huge which indicate massive movements of currencies in an uncertain environment.
