The severe decline in Japan's exports illustrates the depth and scope of the global recession. It also underscores that the debt fueled consumption binge of the US consumer is over. I suppose the markets discounted this weakness to some extent but I expect a prolonged and deep global recession so I expect new lows for the indexes in 2009.
