Interesting idea and one in which I have total agreement:

"I think of gov't as an organism, and so it fights to grow and to persevere at any cost."

I believe that can be applied as nearly a universal truth.

Humans....when we stop growing we begin dying

Love...when it stops growing it dies

The deflation we see is the direct result of a dying debt pyramid

Nations expand at the expense of their neighbors or their neighbors expand over them

The universe expands and then????
