It is Times procedure to verify the authenticity of every letter. In this case, our staff sent an edited version of the letter to the sender of the email and did not hear back. And this contraction in terms was their explanation of what happened? It is our procedure to verify the authenticity of every letter, except we never bother to wait for an answer? Especially from public officials? ROFL! The National Enquirer DOES keep better standards. And many fewer pretensions.
