Politico.com is trying to invoke the Freedom of Information Act in obtaining the e-mails. You know, the same act that the mainstream media invoked in getting their hands on tons of material relevant to Bush and Cheney.

However, the Obama team is saying that they don't fall under the jurisdiction of that law because they're technically a private party, not a government entity.

You gotta love it. Shades of Clinton all over again. Who cares about the spirit of the law when you can simply fulfill the letter?
